The name “distance” means that the training takes place over a distance. For example, often, students want to study at a prestigious university in Moscow. Still, they cannot come to the capital for a long time, and they cannot look in absentia. Then distance learning comes to the rescue, which has both full-time and distance learning features. For such a study, the student needs only a laptop or tablet and a great desire to learn.
Distance learning starts with applying the necessary copies of documents certified by a notary. If a student who wants to enroll in distance learning lives in another city, he sends documents by post. A contract is then concluded with him, and the student is admitted to the university after payment of the tuition fees.
Distance learning is ubiquitous among those who want to pursue a second higher education and enroll in refresher courses or MBA programs. Thus, such training is especially suitable for adults and busy people who do not have time to attend full-time lectures but still want to listen to the material and solve problems with him directly, and not with the help of a textbook, as with distance learning the case is. However, higher education can be the first to opt for a similar form of education.
Distance training takes place on schedule using materials on the university website, video recordings, live communication in the form of online conferences, and communication with the student via email, ICQ, or skype. Although distance learning students, like all other students, are enrolled in certain groups, they are given a class schedule and a password to access their account on the website. In this personal account, students can find materials available to them for study – notes, notes, textbooks, control, and other test materials. There they receive assignments for a week or a semester. I can also send all these materials to the student’s email.
With such training, the student does not have an individual schedule, and he must adhere to a program planned by the university. And yet he does not have to spend most of his day in front of the monitor because only seminars or colloquia are held in the form of live communication, where the mandatory presence of a student is required. The student can study all other materials when it suits him. Distance learning, however, requires a lot of discipline, perseverance, and willpower from the student. No one will force you to study here, but you still have to take all the quizzes, tests, exams, and courses at the end of the semester.
Each student is assigned a curator who helps them learn and answer questions about the organization of the entire process. Lecturers usually also set aside time at least once a month for professional consultation. For face-to-face consultations, you can come to the university’s city, but this is not necessary. The compulsory attendance of a student in college is usually only required while passing state exams and defense of the thesis.
