But wouldn’t an innate sensibility and life wisdom replace talent in the college coach? And in general, does a psychologist need higher education, or can he take specialized courses.

An organizational psychologist consults employees or works in the HR department. Such a specialist selects personnel, evaluates the applicant’s personal qualities, conducts professional training, and advises managers on management issues. It is enough for an organizational psychologist to have completed education in the profile “General Psychology” and complete additional vocational training or obtain a diploma in “Performance Psychology” from university.
A counseling psychologist is concerned with helping people facing life or professional problems. The specialist conducts conversations with the client, which contribute to finding new ways to get out of a difficult situation. Such specialists receive higher psychological education, work in consultations or conduct private practice.
Educator psychologist works in kindergartens, schools, schools, and colleges. The specialist helps children deal with personal and academic difficulties, finds an individual approach to learning, and provides career guidance. A person with basic psychological training or a teacher who has completed appropriate professional retraining can start as a teacher-psychologist.

Legally, it is impossible to work as a psychologist without specialized training. The functions of “psychologist,” “psychologist in the social sphere,” or “educator-psychologist” can only be filled by a specialist with a specialized higher education.
Since 2016, the requirements for compliance with the position by employees have been tightened. As a result, someone without psychological training will soon no longer be able to work as a psychologist.
After completing professional retraining courses without undergoing psychological training, is it possible to work as a psychologist?
– There is such a practice. Usually, this situation concerns a small proportion of teachers or educators who first held the position of psychologist at the same time. This was especially true for small schools in Russia.

– Professional training in psychology is primarily suitable for teachers, trainers, educational psychologists, and psychologists.
These courses are necessary for teachers and educators because the practical process of teaching and educating children, adolescents, and young people require knowledge about each age’s psychological characteristics and the features of cognitive functions.
Educational psychologists and psychologists may require professional retraining if several years have passed since graduating from specialized education and starting a professional career. In addition, it is advisable to take professional retraining according to the profile once every five years.
Is lifelong learning important for a psychologist?
– Let’s say that continuing education is necessary for every person, regardless of their position. Continuous training and development should aim at developing both personal and professional qualities.
The solution to one’s internal problems depends on the professionalism of a psychologist, meaning his career, personal life, and inner world. Economy, education, science – all branches of our lives are constantly changing, and this is a continuous process of development. Other points of view appear on existing processes and phenomena and new results of psychological research. And should know all this to a specialist who respects himself and his customers.
It is impossible to work as a psychologist without specialized training. To start a career, it is necessary to have at least a higher education in the profiles of “General Psychology” or “Clinical Psychology.” You can develop professionally through courses and training for psychologists.
